An envelope describes how a sound changes over time. An envelope can interact with different audio parameters like gain and pitch.
This is how the GridSound gain envelope looks like:

The graphic is showing the envelope and behind there are some black lines representing the beats. All the time values are related to the BPM of the composition.

There is 5 settings:

  • 1️⃣ Attack: the time (in beat) taken for the sound to rise from 0% to 100%.
  • 2️⃣ Hold: the time (in beat) the sound stays at 100% (by default it's 0).
  • 3️⃣ Decay: the time (in beat) taken for the sound to reduce from 100% to the sustain percentage.
  • 4️⃣ Sustain: the percentage maintained until the key is released.
  • 5️⃣ Release: the time (in beat) taken for the sound to fade away, 0%.
  • 🅰️ gain and pitch are two tabs you can select to switch from the gain and pitch envelopes.
Each tab has its own toggle button to activate.

If you switch on the pitch envelope you will see this:

  • 6️⃣ Pitch: In semiton, describing the peak of the envelope, it can be positive or negative.

Here a graphic showing the mixer displaying two different synthesizers, with and without a gain envelope:
