Deep Foundations

Nick Machairas edited this page Mar 4, 2021 · 19 revisions

Transmitting complete deep foundation project files that include details on site conditions using current methods can be described at best as a not-so-straightforward task. Extending the DIGGS schema (version 2.5.a as of this writing) to include deep foundation data will enable transmitting complete records in a single file.

We invite all interested individuals to offer suggestions on what pile properties should be captured along with testing and installation methods and data. Please navigate here and create a new ticket with your comments.

This page will present details on the methods and properties that have been identified and examples of implementation in the DIGGS schema.

The effort to extend the schema is based on best practices, experience with various load test databases and input from deep foundation experts.

Overview

Work is already underway for DIGGS 2.6 to accommodate rock grouting data. It is possible that 2.6 will also handle deep foundation data. As a first step, an exhaustive search has been performed of the necessary properties that should be included in the schema. These are grouped in to three categories as shown below; physical properties, installation methods/data and testing methods/data.
