MJPEG default compression is usually too high for efficient streams, and some cameras don't support MJPEG modes.

This may be true for USB cameras, but the cameras that connect via the camera connector do not appear to support YUYV pixel format. At least when I switch to YUYV, I get what appears to be image data, but significantly skewed to the point of the image not being recognizable. |
