This repository contains the code used for atmospheric river identification and tracking by Kerns and Chen (2025a,b).
The code is divided into four directories:
- data_download: Scripts for downloading ERA-5 data
- blob_detection: Calculating the AR blobs and tropical moisture extent from the ERA-5 data
- scripts_for_lpt: Python scripts used with the Large Scale Precipitation Tracking (LPT, https://github.com/uwincm/lpt-python-public) code for tracking the ARs in time
- figures: Scripts used to generate figures for the manuscript
