Overview of the basic deposit workflow

Make sure that you have the appropriate background knowledge and permissions as outlined in Getting Started.

Then:

1. Gather a list of the druids (digital repository identifiers) for the items you will be depositing

  • If creating new items, register your content in Argo first in order to create the druids (see Argo registration instructions.

  • If updating existing items, check Argo to make sure that they have the "Processing status" of "Accessioned".

2. Organize your content for deposit

3. Use the Preassembly web application to make your deposit

Once your content has been organized and staged, you are ready to run the Preassembly web application.

  • Go to the Preassembly web application
  • Fill out the deposit form
  • Run a "Discovery Report"
    • This report will analyze your content and manifests and check for possible errors that could cause the deposit to fail
  • Check the discovery report for errors
    • If errors are uncovered in the report, correct those and run another Discovery Report
    • Repeat until there are no errors being reported
  • Run the Preassembly job
  • Preassembly will go through the list of items in your manifest and begin accessioning
  • You will receive an email when your job is complete
    • If there are errors in processing the job, these will also be noted in email
  • Complete post-accessioning tasks such as cleaning up the location where you staged your content
    • Please make sure that your content has finished depositing before cleaning up these files
