Getting Started

Prerequisites

• macOS 12.0 or later
• Swift 5.7 or later
• Git

Installation

1. Clone the repository:

git clone https://github.com/prosamik/freescreenshot.git
cd freescreenshot

2. Build the universal binary:

swift build -c release --arch arm64 --arch x86_64

Creating a Universal DMG

Follow these steps to create a professional universal DMG file for distribution:

1. Build the universal binary:

swift build -c release --arch arm64 --arch x86_64

2. Generate the application icon:

# Create iconset directory
mkdir -p AppIcon.iconset

# Copy icons with proper naming

4. Create the DMG:

# Create DMG file
hdiutil create -volname "FreeScreenshot" -srcfolder dmg_temp -ov -format UDZO FreeScreenshot.dmg

# Clean up
rm -rf AppIcon.iconset AppIcon.icns dmg_temp FreeScreenshot.app

Usage

1. Mount the DMG file
2. Drag FreeScreenshot.app to your Applications folder
3. Right-click FreeScreenshot.app and select "Open" (required first time only)
4. Press Cmd+Shift+7 to capture a screenshot, or drag and drop an image
5. Use the toolbar to select different editing tools
6. Apply backgrounds, add annotations, and enhance your screenshot
7. Click "Export" to save your masterpiece
