ArthMitra is a multilingual financial platform designed for India's underserved population in Tier 2/3 cities and the informal workforce. This project was completed as part of an initiative by E-Cell IIT Guwahati.
Despite growing digital penetration, millions in India remain excluded from formal financial services due to:
- Lack of formal credit history (no CIBIL)
- Low financial and digital literacy
- Mistrust of fintech apps
- Cash-heavy habits and informal work setups
A comprehensive mobile-first financial product that:
- Offers micro-loans using alternative credit scoring (based on UPI use, gig income, etc.)
- Features Laxmi Bot โ a vernacular AI assistant to guide users in local languages
- Educates users through bite-sized financial content and helps discover relevant government schemes
- Onboards users through trusted local kirana store agents
- Gig workers
- Small shop owners
- Domestic helpers
- Cash-first customers in Tier 2/3 cities
