Your child will be able to experience STEM opportunities that were never available at the Middle School. These opportunities range from learning how to network a computer system, designing a robot the size of a coffee table, or making miniature robots within a small group of people. There are so many activities to join within the Robotics club; having this experience is important for any student. The variety of activities to choose from is due to the "sub-clubs" or groups within the Robotics Club.
The Robotics Club participates in FRC, which is an international competition, participated in by High Schools across the globe. In FRC, large teams usually build robots that include custom parts, which enhance the robot's abilities. Programming the robot is more sophisticated than in the VRC competition. The El Segundo Robotics Club also participates in the VRC competition. Students compete locally, then internationally in small teams to produce a functioning robot. All parts of the VRC robot cannot be custom made; the size of the VRC robot is substantially smaller than FRC robots. In addition, programming a VRC robot is easier than programming an FRC robot. CyberPatriots has been a part of the El Segundo Robotics Club for a substantial period of time. Students in CyberPatriots learn about computer networking and computer communication. More about CyberPatriots can be found on the official website
The Drone Club is a new and valuable addition to the El Segundo Robotics Club. Headed by Luke Calimlim, the Drone Club offers valuable experience concerning drones and other remotely piloted vehicles.
Students who demonstrate their high-effort in the Robotics Club may be given officer positions. Although such positions are not guaranteed, students who obtain an officer position will be able to witness the experience of guiding a team through various challenges, internal and external, while simultaneously pushing their team to reach for a common goal.
The El Segundo Robotics Club is filled with dedicated members. These dedicated members span across all groups of the Robotics club, constructing an environment of "I can't wait to build some robots!"
Valuable mentors help students interpret STEM knowledge that is important nationwide across the private and public sector of education, business, and government. The insights they give and the advice they share are crucial in the fast-developing world of technology, artificial intelligence, and computer architecture.
The El Segundo Robotics Club mandates that every student must contribute a 50 dollar entrance fee. The authentication of the 50 dollar fee will allow the Robotics Club to maintain their environment of learning and knowledge base, contributing to your child's STEM experience. In addition, the club fee will increase the efficiency of students participating in the club by providing vital funds for the purchase of safety mechanisms, machines, and other equipment.
Parents must sign a sheet, documenting that he or she allows his or her child to participate in the El Segundo Robotics Club. The signature form, along with the 50 dollar entrance fee are submitted together to the Robotics Club.
