FRC
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science & Technology) is an organization dedicated to inspiring young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators, by engaging them in exciting Mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
Under strict rules, limited resources, and an intense six-week time limit, teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. Each season ends with an exciting FIRST Championship.
FRC is a robotics competition that is hosted by the organization FIRST. FIRST, or "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology", hosts three other robotics competitions, each of which is targeted to a different age group.

2015 Game Manual "Recycling Rush"
Among these annual competitions there are many similarities which can be noted for improved comprehension of the competition.
- Each game is composed of two alliances, red and blue. Each alliance contains three groups of students; each group of students is usually from a separate school. The alliance of three teams must coordinate their activities to increase the number of points obtained.
- The drive mechanisms on robots for different competitions are virtually the same
- The field is usually around 27 ft. by 54 ft
- Every year, the robot must have vision code to analyze inputs from the camera and decide what to do
