A Twitter software engineer who created cartoons poking fun at his own company says he was fired because he's a 'troublemaker'

Thoughts about this article

This article describes how a software engineer who used to work at Twitter was fired because of his quirky hobby of poking fun at his company publicly on Twitter, a social media platform that heavily promotes free speech after Elon’s takeover.

This article brings up interesting topics about software engineering and ethics. What are the bounds between tech and free speech ? Should an employee honor the company that they work for ? If they have disagreements with the company such as company policies, what are proper ways of communicating them as opposed to posting sarcastic memes ?

Seeing how this software engineer behave made me wonder about the variety of people’s attitudes towards working in the software engineering industry. Some work extremely hard for an opportunity to work for a company like Twitter or Facebook, while others seem to have taken their career for granted. I wonder though, from a company’s perspective, will they be willing to retain someone who is technically talented but has a difficult personality, or a great personality but average skill sets?
