Chrome Installation instructions

To load an unpacked extension in developer mode:

1. Go to the Extensions page by entering "chrome://extensions" in a new tab. (By design chrome:// URLs are not linkable.)
2. Alternatively, click the Extensions menu puzzle button and select Manage Extensions at the bottom of the menu.
3. Or, click the Chrome menu, hover over More Tools, then select Extensions.
4. Enable Developer Mode by clicking the toggle switch next to Developer mode in the top-right.
5. Click the Load unpacked button and select the extension directory.

Firefox Installation instructions

To load an unpacked extension in developer mode:

1. Go to the Extensions page by entering "about:debugging" in a new tab.
2. Click on "This Firefox" on the left-hand navbar.
3. Click on the "Load Temporary Add-on" on the right of that page.
4. In the file upload pop-up window, find the downloaded folder and open the "manifest.json".

To Run the Extension

1. Navigate to your eBird Needs Alert pages (Explore > Alerts > select a Needs page), or if you don't have any already loaded, you can still view a page matching your needs alerts.
2. Once your selected Needs page fully loads, click on the extensions puzzle piece in the top-right of your web browser.
3. If using Firefox, you may need to click again on the Extension to run it.
4. This should add the map to your Needs page.
