WatMap is a cross-platform map app built with Flutter, tailored for students and visitors at the University of Waterloo. Whether you’re rushing to class or exploring new shortcuts between buildings, WatMap helps you find the most efficient indoor and outdoor routes around campus — rain or shine!
- Discover the shortest or most comfortable paths between buildings.
- Switch between “Sunny Mode” ☀️ (fastest outdoor+indoor routes) and “Inside Mode” 🌧️ (stay dry during bad weather).
- Visualize your routes clearly on a customized campus map.
- Found a new route or shortcut? Report it with a few taps!
- Stay up-to-date with the latest route updates from our server.
- Floor-specific indoor maps for complex buildings
- In-door view of some specific paths
This project is inspired by the brilliant work of WatIsRain.
WatMap is a modernized evolution of that idea — reimagined for today’s campus life.
- Frontend: Flutter (cross-platform mobile UI)
- Backend: Supabase (PostgreSQL, realtime updates)
- Map Rendering: Flutter Map + OpenStreetMap
- Hosting: GitHub Pages + NextJs (planned)
WatMap is built with ❤️ by student, for students. Our goal is to make campus navigation effortless, smarter, and more enjoyable.
Stay tuned for new features, and let’s redefine how we move through Waterloo! 🌟
