Meet Zoe: Our AI Companion

Definition & Purpose

Zoe is Think Round's trauma-informed AI companion, designed to provide empathetic support while demonstrating responsible AI integration in healing contexts. Named to represent life and growth, Zoe serves as both a supportive companion and a transparent example of how AI can be thoughtfully designed to serve human wellbeing.

Response Generation Logic

Zoe's responses are generated through a sophisticated multi-layered system:

1. Trauma-Informed Processing

  • ACE Assessment Integration: Responses are personalized based on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) questionnaire results
  • Trauma Category Recognition: System identifies specific trauma areas (emotional abuse, physical neglect, family dysfunction, etc.) for sensitive contextualization
  • Safety-First Language: All responses are filtered through trauma-safe language patterns to avoid triggering content

2. Multi-Provider AI Architecture

  • Primary Provider: OpenAI GPT-4o-mini for natural language processing
  • Fallback Systems: Redundant providers ensure consistent availability
  • Context Management: Conversation history and user context are maintained across sessions
  • Real-time Processing: FastAPI backend ensures low-latency response generation

3. Personality & Safety Filters
