Hello, I'm Rokas, a PhD student at the University of Cambridge applying machine learning to challenges in chemistry. My research has ranged from applied projects, like building models to predict reaction yields, to more fundamental work on generative models based on local similarity.

My coding philosophy has been shaped by practical experience. An early PhD workshop on good software practices instilled in me the value of unit testing. However, helping to maintain widely-used research code like MACE has taught me a more crucial lesson: aggressively avoid complexity. While I still value testing, I now believe the most maintainable code is simple code, a sentiment captured perfectly by the Grug Brained Developer's mantra: "complexity very very bad!"
