SciOS

SciOS is a next-generation, Linux-based operating system engineered from the ground up for scientists, researchers, and developers. It unites the familiarity of graphical workflows with the power of a modular, open-source core—augmented by AI, quantum computing, and robust security.

🚀 Key Features

  • All-In-One Scientific Toolkit
Pre-packaged environments for physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, machine learning, mathematics, horticulture, and bioinformatics—eliminate dependency hassles and focus on discovery.

  • Windows‑Style Desktop, Linux Foundation
A polished, intuitive desktop shell inspired by mainstream OS layouts, built atop a hardened Linux kernel to deliver both familiarity and freedom.

  • Quantum Computing Inside
Deep integration of Qiskit’s Terra, Aer simulator, and IBM Quantum backends—accessible via system APIs for any application or script.

  • Built‑In AI Assistant
A local LLM-powered agent that can generate code snippets, optimize simulations, manage workflows, and automate routine tasks through natural language.

  • Enterprise‑Grade Security
Apple‑style code signing, sandboxed application zones, Secure Boot support, and a centralized policy daemon ensure your research and data remain protected.

  • SciOS Hub (App Ecosystem)
A curated, sandboxed repository of scientific apps and libraries—install, update, and verify integrity with a single command.

  • Rolling‑Release & Modular
Continuous updates with LTS snapshots; modular subsystems allow you to swap or extend components without breaking the system.

  • Seamless Git & GitHub Workflow
First-class Git integration with credentials securely managed, plus CLI tools and IDE extensions for streamlined collaboration and version control.
