The dataset used for this project was sourced from kaggle provided by RUCHI BHATIA. It contains the salaries of job in Data Science domain. https://www.kaggle.com/datasets/ruchi798/data-science-job-salaries

Data Cleaning

I used Excel for data cleaning.

  1. Checked for data types.
  2. Filter out irelevant data.
  3. Remove unwanted columns.
  4. Converted the salaries coulnm into salary_in_usd clunm. The salary in USD (FX rate divided by avg. USD rate for the respective year via fxdata.foorilla.com).
  5. The average number of people that worked for the company during the year: S less than 50 employees (small) M 50 to 250 employees (medium) L more than 250 employees (large).

Data Visulazation

I created a tableau viz to understand the data science salaries

  1. The average salary for data scientists in the dashboard is shown in USD and categorized by experience level and employment type.
  2. The top 10 employee residences for data science jobs are shown, with the United States having the highest number of employees.
  3. The dashboard also includes a map that shows the average salary by country.
  4. The majority of companies in the dataset fall under the medium-sized category, with 53.71% of the companies being medium-sized. The most common experience level for data scientists is senior, with 46.13% of the employees being at this level.
  5. Full-time employment is the most common employment type, accounting for 96.87% of the employees in the dataset.
  6. The job titles with the highest salaries are Applied Machine Learning Scientist, 3D Computer Vision Researcher, and AI Scientist, with average salaries of $278,500, $195,000, and $160,000, respectively.
