Gustatory Modality

The gustatory modality is the stimulus modality pertaining to the sense of taste or flavor. It usually but not always arises through stimulation of the gustatory system (e.g., tastebuds, nasal receptors).

Stimulus Modality
In experiments in which subjects eat or drink food, the stimulus is characterizing as having a gustatory modality.
Some stimuli (e.g., a sip of coffee, a drop of grapefruit juice) may have both gustatory and olfactory modalities.
