A landing page designed to let users discover my other webpages through a single link, without needing to access the 3D site to find them. This is because most people did not realize they needed hardware acceleration enabled, or thought their browser had crashed and left the site before waiting long enough.

I have always struggled with poor passive memory recall, so I decided to make an About Me page. This helps others get to know me, and also helps me remember things that interest me.
The page is inspired by some of the art from the album "Syro" by Aphex Twin, which is clear when compared side by side. I fell in love with its minimalism and simplicity, and decided to take heavy inspiration for my own page.

It starts with a brief description of myself and the page, as well as my preferred pronouns. It is followed by things that interest me, in the following order: Series, Anime, Films, Games, Styles, Runways, Fashion Designers, Fragrances, Colours, Fonts, Bands, Indie Artists, EPs/Albums, Individual Tracks, Genres, Inspirations & References, and finally a section with completely random short entries. Some sections use images to showcase items if I felt it matched better, and others let you click to open that item in a new page (like a specific song). Hovering over images displays a simple, sharp black rectangle with the name of what you are hovering over, in case you do not recognize it from the picture and want to know what it is.
The art replacing the Syro CD was made by @masarapmaruya. It is a full-body commission of my character Quarzite.
All the data is cleanly structured in a .json file, so I can add or remove anything whenever I want. The font used, just like in the original cover art, is DecimaMono.
I created my character Quarzite back in 2022 as a way to represent my online persona. Over the years, I have slowly collected commissions and other artwork from artists, but never really had anywhere to showcase them. I commissioned them for my own enjoyment and to use as profile pictures on different platforms. That changed when I discovered Dimden’s OC Gallery (https://dimden.dev/gallery/) at the start of 2025. Since then, I have always wanted to make my own gallery for my character, and it is partly why I decided to make my whole website in the first place (not just the Quarzite section, but this entire repository).
I wanted to make something simple, so it would not distract from the character itself, but still be cool to see and interact with. I did not want it to steal attention, but I also did not want it to be boring. I considered making a Neocities Y2K-style website, but quickly got discouraged seeing what others had achieved, knowing I would never get close without sinking a lot of hours into it. Even months. They say comparison is the thief of joy, and that was partly true. The idea stayed in my mind until I discovered 98.css (https://jdan.github.io/98.css), and that is when I knew I had to stop making excuses and get to work.
I wanted the "Gallery" to feel like an anime image posting forum, so I made 200x200 containers and let the images automatically adapt. If you want to take a closer look in higher quality, you can click them to open a popup window with more info, like the date I commissioned them, the artist, and sometimes a small description if I feel it fits. The "Information" window also gave me an excuse to think more deeply about my character, describing them physically and personality-wise. Last but not least, I was missing a window to avoid making it asymmetrical (the bad kind of asymmetrical, not the good one). It started as a simple notepad window where people could type stuff, which then evolved into different font sizes and randomly chosen messages written on them. With the recent (as of writing) resurgence of Clippy, I also used it as an excuse to add something that did not fit in the About Me page: quotes or phrases I like (it looked kind of corny or out of place there). It was a bit of a challenge, but I managed to make it look good and work, as well as allowing it to overflow when a specific message is shown. I wanted to add something more, and that is when I discovered jspaint by 1j01, which let me easily add another random element that could pop up. After all this, I had 28 total random scenarios (22 Clippy Quotes, 5 Notepad Versions, and 1 Paint Window, although this last one was increased to have a 3/30 chance of appearing instead of 1/30).
All of this is topped off with different original Windows 98 changeable tilesets, sound effects, and draggable and resizable (most of them) windows. And do not forget the good old Neko cursor cat.
