  • Mid Of August Milestone

    The mid of august milestone is a internal milestone to obtain a prototype ready for evaluation. To obtain a prototype ready for evaluation by mid of August 2022, we set an internal development milestone that will include the following implementations: Depending on the availability of the data endpoints, the **DC lab** will provide: - a connection to the InTaVia data backend (requires a definition of the endpoints response shape and formulation of the frontend data schema) - tools for building groups of entities (entity collections), which can be used by the other components (i.e., visualizations) - advanced editing capabilities for entity attributes and events The **VA studio** will implement a selection of **analytical views**, including: - an advance version of the timeline with several data density and layout space dependent designs - an advanced version of the map showing chronologies of biographical events that also addresses scalability issues (yet to be defined) - a simple network view (i.e., a force directed graph) depicting relations between entities stored in the Redux store - a simple set visualisation to show occupation categories - advanced **coordinated views** combining the above views with highlighting and brushing capabilities - **visual querying** methods require statistical information about the data is needed from the backend to create and initialize the constraint widgets (by attribute and events) As part of the **ST suite** an operational first version of the **ST creator** will be implemented to build simple slide-based stories, which includes a data and configuration exchange between the VA studio, the ST creator and the ST viewer. Overall, this also includes the integration of the different components of the DC lab, the VA studio and the ST creator in a joint user interface with panels to better support the entire InTaVia user workflow from querying to storytelling. Therefore, we will define dedicated interactions to establish an easy user flow between the top-level components.
