When

The first virtual training will be on Wednesday, January 15th, 2025 at 6:00 pm ET and will continue weekly through April 9, 2025. At the first meeting, we will discuss logistics and the task sheet for Spring 2025. The training sessions will be led by Mr. Je’aime Powell of Omnibond Systems.

Session 1: Kick-off

The kickoff session for the coda-thon training event focused on building on participants' existing knowledge of Python and Jupiter notebooks, preparing them to represent the Science Gateway Center of Excellence team during the Acme code-a-thon. The team discussed their diverse programming languages, experiences with data processing, and the potential of implementing an AI-powered Science Gateway Assistant. They also agreed to use Discord for communication, Google Meet for meetings, and to focus on learning Unix and Linux for the upcoming week.

Session 2: 1-22-25

The team discussed the AI Powered Science Gateway Assistant project, focusing on improving functionality and user experience for faculty researchers and educators. They explored potential features such as a chatbot, improved cataloging, and better search capabilities, while also addressing challenges in accessing and validating resources. The team also considered the use of pre-built models and tools for development, discussed project deliverables, and planned for upcoming conferences and coding tasks.
