Welcome to STEM 4Kids with Special Needs, an open-source initiative from Kapodistrian.edu.gr dedicated to empowering neurodiverse and special needs learners with engaging, accessible, and scientifically accurate tools for exploring the universe.
Our mission is simple:
๐ง Make science inclusive.
๐ฌ Make learning joyful.
๐ Make curiosity universal.
This repository hosts interactive content, modular lesson plans, simulations, and visual learning tools designed for children who learn differentlyโincluding those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or physical challenges. Everything we build is:
- โ Open-source
- ๐งฉ Modular and adaptable
- ๐๏ธ Visually intuitive
- ๐ Multi-sensory and assistive-tech friendly
We develop in alignment with modern cognitive science and universal design principles.

Weโre supported by GitHub Sponsors and global contributors like you. A $5/month donation helps us:
- Translate science into accessible formats
- Build assistive-friendly simulations
- Provide learning kits to underserved communities
- Keep all materials free for educators and parents
๐งฌ A note from a scientist on the spectrum:
As a physicist and educator with Asperger's syndrome and dyslexia, I know firsthand how traditional learning environments can exclude brilliant minds. This project is personal. Itโs about ensuring that no child feels left behind simply because their brain works differently.
Science gave me a universe to belong toโthis initiative is how we give it back.
๐ Please consider supporting us at $5 or $10/month to help build tools that speak the language of every learner.
- Kids with learning differences (ages 7โ14)
- Educators seeking inclusive STEM resources
- Parents and caregivers exploring science at home
- Advocacy groups and nonprofits in education equity
We welcome contributions from:
- Developers (JS, Python, WebGL, etc.)
- Educators and special ed professionals
- Designers and animators
- Translators and accessibility experts
