@charles-turner-1, perhaps I rushed to approve #518? When I try to run the recipe by #518 and I get an error. I pushed the error in the notebook. Could you have a look? Is it my environment?

From the looks of the traceback:

ValueError
Traceback (most recent call last)
File /g/data/hh5/public/apps/miniconda3/envs/analysis3-24.07/lib/python3.10/site-packages/intake_esm/source.py:259

you're using the hh5 conda environment, ie. conda/analysis3-24.07. This will be tying you to an old version of the catalog - we decoupled the catalog version and environment version some time in late 2024. If you update to a more recent version (ie. see my specified ARE modules below) it should work fine.

I'm on the plane back to Perth right now so it's a little tricky to spin up a bunch of ARE sessions to determine the earliest compatible version, but I'll do that next week & add a note at the top of the notebook.

I think any environment after conda/analysis3-24.12 (inclusive) should be able to run this notebook, going from the catalog release notes.

Let me try with the new conda-env then!

Requires 25.02 or later as we search for coordinates directly: see #521 .
