As an owners of several chessly courses (or old.chessly?) we were hopeful in mid 2024. Announcement was out and loud:
Big changes in december 2024 for chessly!
I thought to myself - yes! better drills soon. I. WAS. WRONG. Different model for 'predictable company revenue', old site discontinuation with no info on possible improvements for course owners. (I might be wrong here, just couldn't find info)
Here are things that grinded my drills gears:
- have to go to specific course in order
- 2 chapters have same position - good luck guessing which is 'correct' move in drill
- crosscourse drilling is absent
- no 'custom drilling': cant shorten or add variations to lines
- data format for storing active drills
- https://npmjs.com/package/react-chessboard
- PGN
- FEN for starting positions
- https://github.com/jhlywa/chess.js
- indexedDB?
- github sites
- bulk of lines with names?
- import export
- does pgn has notation for lines?
- pgn comments used as titling
