Hi πŸ‘‹, I'm Augustine Chukwunta

A graduate research assistant and M.Sc. student at Brandon University, specializing in bioinformatics, particularly RNA sequencing, transcriptomics, and metagenomics. My research leverages genomic tools and data analytical approaches to address critical issues in agriculture, such as elucidating plant-pathogen interactions and how microbial communities shape plant resilience and pathogen adaptation. I have hands-on experience in Python, R, Bash scripting, and SQL.

Main:

  1. Dual RNA-seq analysis of Soybean in response to Alternaria alternata infection
  2. De novo assembly and comparative analysis of Hypnoidus abbreviatus and Limonius californicus transcriptomes
  3. Investigating the impacts of fungicides on microbiome diversity in the Barley phyllosphere and rhizosphere

Repositories contain pipelines for RNA-seq analysis and de novo assembly. The third project is currently in the analysis stage and its repository will be created upon completion.

I have also explored machine learning applications by building predictive models such as time series forecasting, classification, and NLP (e.g., fake news detection).
