How to bind a printf/echo command that begins with a vertical bar/pipe?

In my bindings file I have:
"Alt-c": "command:textfilter printf '| — '",

But this errors with:
Error in bindings: action — ' does not exist

If I escape the vertical bar:
"Alt-c": "command:textfilter printf '\| — '",

This errors with:
Error reading bindings.json: invalid character '|' in string escape code

You can escape the pipe (\x7C) and spaces (\x20) like this:

"Alt-c": "command:textfilter printf \\\\x7C\\\\x20\\\\x20\\\\x20\\\\x20—\\\\x20",

Nevertheless, this seems to be a bug (presumably in https://github.com/kballard/go-shellquote) that should be fixed.

Thanks, I shortened it to "Alt-c": "command:textfilter printf \\\\x7C' — '",

Seems the pipe is the only troublemaker.
