How do I update micro to the latest version?

use your package manager! if you're on windows, scoop & chocolatey are excellent choices for a package manager. on macos, homebrew is my go-to. anywhere else, simply use your system package manager

I'm on Ubuntu (WSL2).

The regular sudo apt update | upgrade sequence isn't upgrading it.

The Ubuntu package is still on version 2.0.9 (released May 2021) – Ubuntu is a rather slow-moving distro so it may take a while for updates to land unless they're security critical. Your best option is to either download a binary release or build micro from source.

There are other distros that are better at keeping their packages up-to-date. Currently I think Arch Linux and NixOS (unstable channel) are the only major distros that have already updated their micro package to 2.0.12. Fedora, OpenSUSE Tumbleweed and Debian are all still on 2.0.11.

fedora should get an upgrade to micro pretty soon... debian will take a while
