Running shell_module sample on Litex_VexRiscv using Renode not working

Hi, I was following this tutorial on running Zephyr.elf on Renode. Zephyr.elf was built successfully with no error and no modifications. However, the UART console is not showing on the other window when starting emulation. Any help is much appreciated.

The screenshot below shows the warnings that appear on the terminal.

Hi @nerdylye, thanks for reporting this issue.

The tutorial you’re following seems to have been written for Zephyr v1.14.0, which was released 6 years ago on April 16th 2019. Could you please confirm that this is indeed the Zephyr version you’re building?

Please note that the Zephyr release in question has long since been deprecated, and is not actively supported.

Hi @fkokosinski, I'm building with the latest version of Zephyr. By the way, I realize that Zephyr version v1.14.0 does not support litex_vexriscv board yet.

In that case, what are the available tools for me to verify that the Zephyr program that I built is correct without using a hardware board if I'm building with the latest Zephyr version? That's because I only came across Renode as the only software emulator that can be used to verify Zephyr apps.

Can you target a different platform, or does it have to be litex_vexriscv? If you can, then the following RISC-V platforms can be tested with Renode:

• hifive1
• hifive_unleashed
• hifive_unmatched

Other platforms can be tested and verified as well. but their support may vary and they are not supported out of the box by Zephyr. You can refer to this site to see whether the platform you have in mind is supported in Renode: https://zephyr-dashboard.renode.io/.

I've changed the issue type from Bug to Enhancement, and removed the bug label since this is not a bug; while Renode simulation is supported for some Zephyr targets out of the box, litex_vexriscv is not one of them.
