When theming, I'd like to be able to make the AI's text different from my own

Can you elaborate further? Do you mean you would like some way of preserving the edit history such that the characters that were typed and the characters generated by inline auto completion (copilot, zed edit predictions) and the agent would be colored differently?

That's an interesting thought and we've talked about the potential features that could be possible if Zed persisted the CRDT used for edit/undo.

Pretty much but not just inline.

I also think the AI tab should have different colors for text by agent or by user, maybe even a different font there as well. Unrelated but I hope there is a markdown support option for AI produced text.

In the agent threads it will render markdown, but we're unlikely to do this for the assistant style text threads because everything is editable. The is some basic support for highlighting syntax elements in text threads via the tree-sitter-markdown highlights, perhaps your theme doesn't support them?
