high CPU usage

Hi, I was out on Sunday and on Saturday evening I quickly closed the xeres ui on my remote server via the x in the ui. The process apparently continued to run.
On Sunday, the server admin contacted me and said that the CPU was at 80% capacity and asked if I was doing something or if the server had been hacked.
What requires so much CPU time? Are you aware of this?

Nope, not normal. Does it happen every time? Which version? Which OS?

• I can't really say whether Xeres was the problem. But apart from the fact that I had started Xeres and connected to a peer (the connected peer was no longer available), everything on the server was as usual.
• This has only happened once so far.
