Length Determinant limitation for PerCodec

Hi,

Apologies for logging this as an issue, as this probably classifies more as a discussion, but I could not see a way to start a discussion

So,

While trying to encode a payload for NGAP protocol, I got the following error from the library:

hampi/codecs/src/per/common/encode/encode_internal.rs

Line 174 in 1c310f5

"Length determinent >= 16384 not implemented",

PerCodecErrorCause::EncodeNotSupported, "Length determinent >= 16384 not implemented",

I wanted to know the reasons for the constraint and if there a way to work around this limitation.

I see a reference to

Where can I find the reference?

@niranjankhare : Actually this is indeed an issue - so nothing wrong with marking it as an issue. :-)

You can look at ITU-T Recommendation X.691 for the references mentioned above. If you'd like to take a shot at it, you are more than welcome to.

@gabhijit : Thanks for the offer! I'd sure like to have a go. I tried looking up the section 10.9 in the latest version here:

https://www.itu.int/rec/T-REC-X.691-202102-I , but looks like it has only upto 10.6.

Perhaps, I'm looking at the wrong version or the references need to be updated?

The references are 11.x instead of 10.x in the above version.
