For the branch, i'm thinking of creating an environment variable called YII_JQUERY for dafault its true, and making all the related code optional. That way, you’ll be able to disable it. Do you think it would be useful?

What means optional in this context?

Is just the JS not included and you have to register it on your own.
Or will you (somehow) disable a large part of widgets and HTML? Eg. what to do with client-side validation of ActiveForm.

The idea is to avoid registering the JS code included in the framework classes. If you choose to disable all the built in jQuery (and related JS), it's assumed you'll be using your own libraries instead. In fact, many people are already doing this.
