Add support for IR blasters

Thank you for your work on this integration.
It finds my Tuya IR Blaster, but when I try to add it, I get the error:

Connection to device succeeded but no datapoints could be found. Please try set-up again. If problem persists, create a new issue (including debug logs).

I see that the upstream repo has an unmerged PR: rospogrigio#1597

Hello, I have answered this before here #81 however I know it's possible to make localtuya sends commands through IR remote, however thanks to the PR author and the original author mentioned in the PR topic it's looks it possible to send IR signals, But the PR you mentioned is completely uses "button" platform as a button entity to sends IR signal unlike the upstream this fork uses the button platform for other purposes as well.
I don't I won't add it, however, I don't have Tuya-based IR Remote for now I may buy one to see if there's better way to handle this.

I have a cheap IR blaster that I want to use to turn my air conditioner on and off. A button would work fine for me.
I understand that the "button" is like a quick fix and you want a better solution.

from two options

1. should we rely on the method you mentioned in and get the IR Keys from cloud.
2. We use learn and send command on ha remote this way we learn the button in HA and use it later.

Update: If you set the DPID to 0 go to re-add the device and choose DPID 201 and receive id default 202

note: saved buttons won't be deleted even if you deleted the device.

Strange the remote stopped working today. Had to re-add the device. The values look different now

Mine stopped working a few versions ago, but I haven't made time to troubleshoot. I was hoping a new version would fix it, but I'll try re-adding the device soon.

I just deleted the device and re-added it, setting the Manual DPs to 0 (because I got the error in my first message at the top of this discussion the first time). It worked and I did not need to re-add any of the configured buttons. Happy again :)

I just re-test it on "beta4" and it still works fine for me try it. @Minniemie does the device LED light on when you submit learn command ? also the device diagnostics you posted isn't full so I can see how did your device configured. :)

Delete the device and re-add it using the latest beta version to ensure the issue still exists on beta.
HACS -> Localtuya -> re-download -> toggle on beta version.
Ensure to select any other version then select beta5 back. then install -> restart HA re-add the device.

If the issue still exists you will need to enable the debug for both "device and integration" then try learn/send command using smart life this will reports logs post it.

If you can add the device and check the debug for the device and enable debug for integration as well it will be clear of what happen, when you enable debugs try learn/send from HA then again try learn/send but using smart life. then I can tell what actually happen and help you :)

Just wanted to add a bit there, as I managed to set it up with a completely random Chinese IR device, thanks to wonderful @xZetsubou new commits and a bit of tinkering.

First step is adding your device with 0 in the DPS field:

Once you've done that, you can usually hit the "reconfigure device" option, and tick "Add new entity".

Most tuya IR devices have 201 and 202 as DPS but it will likely be auto-recognize. Select "Remote" as the device type, then check for those 201 or 202 code. One is marked ir_send, the other ir_learn or ir_receive I believe.

Add both of those entities, and turn them on in your device (they should show as turn on/off switches.

From there, head over Developper Tools > Services to start leaning your commands. This is the start of the tricky part (if there's an easier way, I'm curious to know)... So read till the end so you don't forget to save command names if you don't have SMB.

The setup should look like that:

• Service:

Remote: lean command

• Device ID:

A unique identifier you want for the device you are building / learning commands of

• Command:

the name of the command you will learn

• Command type:

only bother if your IR receiver has both ir/rf modes

• Alternative:

self-explanatory, for devices like Aircon remotes that send different signal for On and Off buttons with a single button

Hit the "Call Service" button, likely your IR receiver will turn its LED on to show it's ready to receive. As soon as you press the button on your Device's remote, the "Call Service" button will flash as a green checkmark to tell you it saved the code !

As I mentioned, you should read till the end because...the codes are stored locally in your storage. So 2 ways, either you save the exact names of the commands you just learn along the way (I obviously didn't), or you enable Samba integration and do a bit of digging...

You must enable "Show Hidden Items" and go to the .storage folder:

From there you will find a file called "localtuya_remote_codes" where all your commands were neatly saved !

If you want a bit of a headstart with how to build useful buttons, automations/scripts and helpers with that, I found a quick video that essentially goes thru the same process than us with Broadlink in a short time and summarizes what I explain above (altho not thru our marvelous localtuyaxZetsubou ;-) )

You guys need to update to this fork correctly if not then do hard refresh to the page so it remove old integration cache. because from the image I can tell that this is not this fork due to missing of other platform and lowercase text.

Hi @xZetsubou , sorry for bumping closed thread. I've set the DP Manual to 0.
I couldn't found DP 202 or 201. Here's what i have:

I've tried to mix bunch of combinations for the DP and still couldn't make it works. I've tried the automatic as well. I have no issue when trying to run 'learn remote' services. But when i try to send commands, it doesn't works.

Doesn't matter what i pick it always says 'study key' on IOT Tuya Platforms debug.

is there any way how i can fix this? Thanks!

Faced the same problem. The remote is learning. But when sending a command, the remote control sends it - but the end device does not respond. DP are the same, 2 and 7

It feels like the remote is just sending an empty command

Is any different for rf and ir? I made a lot of integrations with IR and everything works fine.
But when I create RF integration then:
-I can see code in localtuya_remote_codes file
-When I run it with automation just like I do with IR, but nothing happenes

Have anyone any solution?

by default yes sending command is done normally like IR but when learning RF command you should choose "RF" as type in learning step, well RF isn't supported for all types of remotes but it kinda should works for the remote that has "201, 202" as DPS status

I can't make my smart ir learn remote codes, it just expires the time:
