Is there a reason this block was printed separately from the rest of the piece? It is one piece in the scad model. Should it be reprinted as a single piece? If not, does just gluing it down where it appears to be in the scad work?

You can just glue it

When I printed it, there was a tiny layer (somewhere around 1-2 layers) of gap in the model, which was filled with the soluble support material. exact placement is not a high priority here, so epoxying it down in approximately the right location is good enough (so long as it doesn't interfere with the stage operation)
