There is a SMTP over SSL sample in Basic which uses sync operations. IMO the methods are self-explanatory.

There are both Sync and Normal(Async?) methods. On async I couldn't get it to work and Basic only contains of Sync methods.

@wqweto Sync Operations seem to freeze the entire thread, that's why I'm wondering if there is any examples for async methods.

cHttpRequest in contrib implements async http requests.

With async operations the protocol is mostly impl as state automata e.g. current state is waiting for headers, once headers are received change state to waiting for body. Do this for all possible states the protocol can "fall" into (nodes of a graph) and all possible transitions (edges of a graph).

If you are using http/https then cHttpRequest has most of the wrinkles ironed (e.g. proxies, redirects, etc.)
