Try calling symbol.setDataType(DataType.GS1), and then put your application identifiers (AIs) in square brackets (e.g. [01]05011846019106[21]5/TEq?*f'HJm)[91]EE11[92]RQP7o4347CnJ13S+upfitdveGVUjWQWQCrBuGRDv24g=).
