Identify process needing external HD

I am a novice user. When I reboot my Windows 11 pc, I receive a "Location is not available" message, and it is looking for a file that is on the external hard drive that was connected before the system was rebooted. How can I use systeminformer to identify what process is looking for the file, so I can try to end it? When I reconnect the external drive the system accesses the drive but no other action is evident.
