There are options in the "Advanced options" to adjust the colors when theme support (dark mode) is enabled. Note, changing these advanced option restarting the program for them to apply:
You can also change the highlighting as usual in the options:

IMO the new dark theme is extremely hard on the eyes. Switched back to classic. There needs to be an option to choose the theme CYMK.
