Well, i have an lg tv. I also have a smartphone with YouTube (-revance.d) on it. But on the smartphone i got a way to force 1440p on a 1080p screen*. I like more detail in my image.

So, my need is:

1. Add to the menu, option to spoof the dimentions of the client.( *To get the benefit of the higher bitrate.)

So, we can all play 1440p on 1080p displays*. We like detail.

P.s: yt bitrate is mid.

Please note that the TV doesn't necessarily be able to play video that has larger dimension than its panel. For 1080p models, playback of 1440p may not work.

Well. I also use a 720p tv . I normaly watch content on 1080p( more detail). Like i said. I like detail.

What model is your 720p TV? For some models, they display 720p UI but the panel is 1366x768, and is capable of playing 1080p video. However, from my experiences dealing with 1080p models, they may not be able to play 1440p.
To give the dev a good reason to implement this, I'd suggest you verify if 1440p video plays on your TV or not.

I think they could go into the data they got from the downloads and analitycs to see if true.
Well on the 720p model. I can play a video that is at 1440p.
I like the added detail.
(Im refering to the bitrate.)
