Bug description

On the dashboard page, Cashflow doesn't respect my setting of "Default Period", while the section underneath "Net Worth" does.

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Go to '/settings/preferences'
2. Change "Default Period" to anything other than 30 days
3. Wait until the new value is saved and then navigate back to the dashboard
4. Notice that the "Net Worth" section is using the new updated default period, while Cashflow is still using 30 days. Independent of your settings.

Expected behavior

I'm expecting that the dashboard respects the default period selected and that the cashflow by default shows the same period that I've selected as default period.

You're correct—on the latest version, the Cashflow section on the dashboard does not use your "Default Period" setting, while Net Worth does. This happens because the Cashflow component uses its own period variable and does not read from your user preferences, likely defaulting to 30 days in the code. Net Worth, on the other hand, applies the default period as expected by reading your preference from the settings and passing it to its view logic.

There are no existing tickets or documentation tracking this bug, and no recent PRs address it. If you or a contributor want to fix this, the change would need to happen in the dashboard controller/view logic: specifically, update the Cashflow section to read and use the user's default period setting, similar to how Net Worth does. For reference, the Cashflow Sankey chart is rendered with a local variable (@cashflow_period) that currently isn't connected to your preference setting, while Net Worth uses @period which is set from your preferences (source).
