Bug description

I pasted my SimpleFin API key and it appeared to sync; however, no accounts were created and SimpleFin reports no attempted accesses.

To Reproduce

I've tried multiple APIs.

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

Go to SimpleFin connections menu, add in API key and click Add Connection.

Expected behavior

The accounts I have synced with SimpleFin to be created in Sure

This is a known issue in 0.6.3—SimpleFin sync can silently fail, resulting in no accounts being created and the UI showing "Never synced". The root cause is incomplete error handling and sync reliability in the current release. There’s an open pull request that fixes these problems, improves error reporting, and ensures accounts are created and synced correctly (details here).

Until the fix is merged, you can check your Rails/Docker logs for errors related to SimpleFin sync attempts, which might reveal if requests are failing or being blocked. There are no special Docker Compose environment variables required for SimpleFin, but network issues or missing dependencies could also prevent sync. Monitoring the pull request for updates is recommended, as the next release should resolve these issues.

I believe the issue is that it will not initially sync if there are any connection issues with the accounts established in SimpleFIN. Initial syncs need to be "clean" connections in SimpleFIN. Unsure as to whether if a connection breaks in SimpleFIN whether it will continue to sync the other accounts in Sure.
