Display flickering issue after external display wakes up with dummy mirroring

Hi there!

My config is: MBP 14" with M1Pro, connected via LENTION Universal USB-C Docking Station (CB-D53s) to 34" Philips 345E2.

I have 2 issues, when the BD and custom HiDPI resolution is enabled:

1. Aster waking up the display starts to flickering, when I'm moving cursor. Reconnecting dummy did not solve the problem. Made a quick demonstration: Video
2. After display wenting to sleep, external monitor becomes black and then after about 1-2 seconds it turns up backlit without showing any picture. And the backlit can be turned on indefinitely. So when I want to wake up the monitor, I am drag the mouse or tap a keyboard button and after that Mac normally unlocks and display is working in the right way. But that problem with active backlit while sleeping really annoys me.

PS: Big thanks to @waydabber for this really necessary Apple Silicon Mac owner's tool! Truly waiting for solving these bugs, thereafter I'm buying Pro licence.

Hi @djsaijr, both issues are related to dummy mirroring - see #261. I'd recommend to use the new Allow smooth resolution scale feature (see this tutorial) instead of dummy mirroring if your goal is to simply have flexible custom HiDPI resolutions and running Monterey 12.4 or newer. This approach gives you flexible resolutions in a more native way therefore does not suffer from some of the macOS bugs that afflict some setups (flickering, sleep issues) related to mirroring a virtual display. Dummies still have its use and in some special use-cases still require mirroring, but this is probably not a case for you.

Sorry for bringing this up again after 3 years, but I have the same flickering issue.
Using the smooth scaling option didn't help me in my case.

I have a 5120 x 1440 monitor.
I previously had a MacBook Pro M1 Max that allowed me to use HiDPI 3840X1080 resolution. What happened behind the scenes is that the Mac would downscale the actual 7680X2160 to fit the screen.
I got a new Mac Studio M4 Max and this one doesn't allow me this. The only option I have is low res 3840X1080.
Using smooth scaling doesn't solve the issue for me, and the only thing giving me the HiDPI 3840X1080 resolution is the virtual monitor. The issue now is the flickering.

Any advice how to go forward from here?
