Better Display Newbie

Is there an instruction manual on how to use the app? I just bought the Pro version 4.04, running on a MacBook Pro M2 with an Apple LCD Cinema 27 inch display as an external monitor. Naturally the external monitor resolution options are horribly bad and limited in system settings. My goal is to get the external monitor to be as sharp as possible to my MacBook Pro M2 screen. But I'm clueless as to where to begin. I'm afraid of screwing something up that I can't back out of.

However reaching proper clarity (like with your high resolution built-in display) is not realistic with a Cinema Display - the best you can do is to enable flexible scaling and for extra clarity set a logical HiDPI resolution slightly lower than the native 2560x1440 so more details can be rendered by the system.

Thanks for your response. I followed your instructions and enabled flexible scaling. The Cinema Display's default resolution is showing a current default resolution of 1280 x 720 LoDPI @60Hz. The slider doesn't go higher than that. When I select "Edit native panel pixel resolution" and insert a resolution such as 1920 x 1080 and activate those changes, nothing happens. What am I missing here?

The native resolution for the cinema display should be 2560x1440 (that will be the base of the scaled resolutions) - make sure you don't change that as things won't work.

I set the native resolution to 2560 x 1140 but nothing changed. See photos. Am I missing something else?

As you see here, the Cinema Display maxes out at 1280x 720.

Hmm. Something is clearly not right. Why would the native resolution of the cinema display be 1280x720? Is this how the image initially appeared (without BetterDisplay)? How is the display connected?

Your great questions got me thinking. I'm using a Caldigit 4 hub. The monitor was plugged into an adapter then into the hub. Once I unplugged it from the hub and plugged it directly into my MacBook Pro M2 everything seems to work as it should. I'm now seeing a resolution of 2560 x 1440. So thank you for that!

My only other questions are how do I go back to the default settings on the BetterDisplay app and how do I uninstall the app should I ever choose to?
