Resolution limited to max native resolution on Apple Silicon? #4354
-
Hi, First of all, sorry for my English. I have a 27-inch monitor with a resolution of 1920x1080. I've had a new MacBook Pro M2 Pro for over a month, and it doesn't allow me to change the resolution to 2560x1440 — something I was able to do with an Intel Mac Mini. I'd like to know if there's something I'm not doing or if it's just not possible to fix. As I mentioned, I used to be able to do it with my Mac Mini, but now the MacBook Pro doesn't allow it. Thanks for you help! Javier |

Yes, with Apple Silicon Macs you can't set a higher than native resolution. As a workaround you can create a virtual screen (like 2560x1440) with a higher resolution and mirror it to your real screen. |

The problem now is that when the MacBook goes to sleep, the virtual monitor doesn’t turn off — instead, it freezes. This happens even though I’ve used a screen saver, but it still doesn’t turn off. What could I enable to make sure it actually turns off when the monitors go to sleep? |
