Can't enable HiDPI on 5120x1440 resolution #3802
-
My question Is: Is there a way to enable HiDPI on 5120x1440? Context: I have an ultrawide 49" 5120x1440 monitor (Samsung G9 OLED), which I use with the laptop screen closed. Better Display only seems to support this resolution at low DPI. When I enable the HiDPI function, it falls back to 3840x1080. When I then re-select 5120x1440, it turns HiDPI off. Using MacOS Sequoia 15.2 / Macbook Pro 16 2021 with M1 Pro / 32GB |

On Apple Silicon (with Pro chips) the max HiDPI resolution is 3840px horizontally. The only way to enable HiDPI is to create a virtual screen, enabling 8K+ resolutions and mirroring it to the real display. This method has some drawbacks. |

@waydabber On my previous MacBook Pro M1 Max I did have HiDPI 3840px horizontally as you said, however on my new Mac Studio M4 Max, the max HIDPI resolution I get is 3360px horizontally. Any idea why that is? Is that an M4 chip issue? |
