Hey there!

Enabling hiDPI works but it defaults to 4k & a very weird scaling.

Manually enabling hiDPI and then changing the resolution it will default back to 4k

I really can't figure this out :/

The problem is that the max HiDPI scaled resolution you can get with any Apple Silicon Macs is 3840x1080 on this display which will make the UI look huge. I am not sure about the weird scaling (do you have a screenshot/photo?)

I ended up making it work by following the instructions and creating a Virtual screen, which I think is not as good as it would be without it right?

I see.. So essentially you're saying that I can't do 7680x2160 HiDPI on an m1/2 without the Virtual screen right?

Right, I was referring to the max native resolution.

@sammykumar I figured out what they mean. So after you turn on Enable resolutions over 8K, then follow the instructions for creating a Virtual Screen that uses Match aspect ratio of and associate to a display, and check the box for Associate the virtual screen with this display and also check the box for Configure virtual screen mirroring. After you do this, you'll have flexible HiDPI scaling for pretty much all resolutions from native (or even above native) to way lower than you'll ever need
