SIP was off and allow applications downloaded from was set to anywhere
cllick the software ,it won't open , massage is "the application 'betterdisplay' can't be opened "

How did you get BetterDisplay? From the release page? It works on my M1 Pro MacBook, with macOS 13.4, as well.

Interesting. For some reason the OS prohibits the app from opening it seems. You should try redownloading the app from GitHub. It is properly signed and notarized.

(I am aware of the fact that as with many other apps, there are some cracked versions circulating on shady websites maybe infested with some ransomware or botnet stuff... you should definitely avoid those.)

i have a question that might be also answered via chatgbt or YouTube but I want to make sure,.... do you used apples developer account enrollment to develop or rather get the proper notarization ? or did you somehow made it in some other way that is less cheaper or even free ? Because Im starting to learn swift but the more I learn the tougher it gets and it seems to be now impossible to publish anything without any costs ? I hope you can tell something about that because it everyone is also suprised that it isn't on App Store but need to be installed in that way ?

Yes, all apps must be notarized with Apple for a problem-free installation and you need a developer account for that (it only costs $99 per year). I'd be super happy to add the app to the App Store - it's the nature of the app that prevents it. For many of the functionalities provided by the app private or undocumented APIs must be used which makes the app unsuitable for the App Store. That's why tweaking-oriented system utilities like this are typically not available there.
