Data loaded in layout doesn't load on initial page load but works if you refresh the page

I'm trying to load data and store it into a Pinia store in the script of a layout, and then use it on the page. When I route.push() to the page it doesn't seem to "fire off" the layout's script as the Pinia store is empty. But if I refresh the page it loads just fine and everything works. Is there something I need to do to make sure a layout's script runs when it loads from a route.push()?
