Vue generic defineComponent doc example not working

I try to replicate this simple example from the vue docs: link to vue doc

Example from docs simply copied:

const Comp = defineComponent(
  <T extends string | number>(props: { msg: T; list: T[] }) => {
    // use Composition API here like in <script setup>
    const count = ref(0)

    return () => {
      // render function or JSX

    }
  },

The props are just any. This might be a vue or volar bug, but before I open an issue here or in the volar repo, I want to make sure that I am not stupid and did something terrible wrong.
