Should I add .vite/deps folder to .gitignore?

I have suddendly noticed more than 40 added file in the git changes window and the majority comes from that folder?

What does it actually contains? And should I add it to .gitignore?

I have the same question. I noticed that when creating a new vite project with npm create vite@latest the .gitignore that is created does not include the .vite folder. Does that mean I should add the folder to git?

you can add the .vite folder to your .gitignore, but the default path for it is in the node_modules folder, which should already be ignored in your projects.

you're able to change the path in your vite.config.js (or vite.config.ts):

import { defineConfig } from 'vite'

export default defineConfig({
  // ...
  cacheDir: 'node_modules/.vite', // <--- Move Vite’s cache inside node_modules
})
