Maintainance status of the repository

Hey there 👋

Since the last proper commit and last release were back in February, I am left wondering about the state this project finds itself in.
I've grown to be a big fan of vidstacks's user-facing compose-ability and configurability with dash.js, but since the lack of updates supporting dashjs v5, I've paid closer attention to the lack of activity on this repo. Because I couldn't find a discussion around the maintenance status of this project anywhere else on the internet, it felt right creating one here.
Hope I didn't miss anything obvious!

While we're here, I'd also be super curious if anyone knows about a similar project with more frequent updates, with a high quality bar so high.

Looks like Rahim now works for Mux—who are the team behind media-chrome. media-chrome definitely would be a place to start from for a "maintained" library, but Vidstack has a lot more features than media-chrome that are available in the Default Theme that you'd have to build from (somewhat) scratch with media-chrome.

Least we can hope for is one of the following:

a. Rahim's work on Vime/Vidstack is merged into media-chrome in some capacity, providing even more functionality to that library.
b. Contributors/users like us create a Vidstack-alike theme and submit it to https://player.style/ which is also a Mux project I came across in my research over the last few days of checking up on this project and alternatives.
c. Rahim allows more people to maintain the Vidstack player so the community can take over support/maintenance for it.

Hey everyone, sorry for the lack of updates! I joined Mux at the start of the year after we realized we shared a vision for where our players could go. I’ve been holding off posting until there was something real to share — and we’re getting close.

We’re taking what made Vidstack great, making it even better, and rolling it into a bigger project. Hoping to have something to show in the next month or two. We’ll open up a repo for feedback, and migrating over from Vidstack should be pretty smooth.

@mihar-22 Thanks for the update. Does it make more sense to wait for what you guys are releasing or should I migrate from Vidtack to MediaChrome now, and your release is "just" an update of MediaChrome, or is it an entirely new player?

I'll drop a new pinned discussion post in the repo and also announce on Discord/X. The first release of the new player is only a technical preview, very minimal feature set. We're mapping out a timeline and roadmap for when we'll reach reasonable feature parity with our other players, including Vidstack Player.
